Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Whatever your old identity was, when you follow Jesus, you throw that stuff off. That doesn’t mean you’re no longer a teacher or doctor or whatever, but that you don’t find your identity in that vocation, or in your life status or your tribal heritage. Paul says, when you are “in Christ” or when you have devoted your life to Jesus, a new creation has come.
